The Faerienomicon

The Faerienomicon
An Illustrated Account of Faerie
by the Keffer Family with special assistance from Henry E. Gorton

Description: The Faerienomicon represents "An Account of Faerie: Its Substance and Curiosities, Its Architectures and Landscapes, Its Hitherto Unsubstantiated Histories, And the Habits of Living Of the Diverse Creatures Dwelling Therein". The Faerienomicon was assembled by the Keffer Family of East Tennessee under the artistic direction of Miss Ruth Marie Keffer. Henry E. Gorton provided assistance with the text. The book is filled with felt finger puppets and photographs from wild places in East Tennessee. It is intended for both children and adventurous adults.

The Keffer family--David, Lynn, Ruth & Joseph--have released four books combining the three crafts of home-made felt finger puppets, local photography and narrative story-telling. The design and creation of the puppets, the choice of locales for photographic backgrounds and the elements of the story are collaborative activities involving all members of the family.

All but four of the twenty finger puppets appearing within make their literary debut in The Faerienomicon. For those readers familiar with the The Mushroomnomicon, the dwarf, the winter nymph, the duergar and the blue dragon reprise their roles in The Faerienomicon.

Of neither interest nor significance to virtually anyone, The Faerienomicon is the result of a non-idiomatic improvisational creative process.

The Faerienomicon is dedicated to Hans Reichel (1946-2011), inventor & experimental musician, who created, in the daxophone, the ideal soundtrack for reading this book. Information is available about Reichel of one sort and another and another and another.
