What some mistook for pride and stubbornness, was actually a deep-seated
admiration for inertia.
On crowded buses he adamantly refused to yield his seat to the elderly and
infirm, saying, "A body at rest tends to stay at rest."
Needless to say, for the most part he dwelt in seclusion.
