mushroom

You naturally wonder if mushrooms are like us, if mushrooms get along with each other in the same way that people do or don't get along with each other.

You might also tend to wonder how mushrooms view the verdure that surrounds them. Do mushrooms envy the green life that thrives all around them but refuses to enter them? Or rather, do mushrooms, who are sustained by decay, morbidly await the day that the green leaf, the green grass, and the green ivy are compost at the base of their stalks?

You also wonder what the world does to some mushrooms to give them a tough, leathery demeanor, while the world allows other mushrooms to retain their soft, pink exterior. Sometimes, the inconsistencies mount to such an intolerable level that they become impossible to ignore. You want to shout, "It's not fair," especially if it is you who are covered in a course, brittle leather.

"But of course, you don't."

No, you know better than to do that.
